One more gift to add to your pile--Relationships
Today I read in Malachi:
Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name.
This is my vision for the community I've started. It's a small fellowship of readers who like sci-fi, fantasy, dystopia, and apocalyptic stories--as well as speculative Christian stories. People who like a little spark of "something creative, new, and different" in our mystery/thriler books. But a place where we "speak" with one another.
Reasons for what we do
Why are we on social media?
- curiosity, wondering about people's lives
- boredom: when things get challenging or dull we want to distract ourselves
- connection: we think that by clicking LIKE π we are engaging in their lives.
But social media's purpose is to CAPTURE our attention, making us a slave to the endless scroll. Most of the people seeing our posts don't know us and vice versa, it's rare for us to see posts of our actual friends--just long-time-ago-acquaintances.
It's not wrong to be curious, entertain ourselves, or connect. But when WE are the product, and so many are trapped--those with the freedom to leave should leave and should encourage others to leave.

I'm involved in a writing community, called AuthorMedia, where we have community, connection, but not the endless scroll. By nature, when you've read all the new posts, your time is up.

That's what ScrollKeepers is--a group of Scroll-loving (Bible-loving) readers who want the connection that can come from shared interests. Namely: Faith, Hope, and Sci-fi Fantasy.
