Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories

Dear friend,

Just a quick message this week.

I hope you are well. I'm neck-deep in revisions for Me, Myself, and IT. Pray for me.

This week I experienced a cool interconnection of real life and fiction when my husband introduced a new song to the church congregation. Kyrie Eleison. It's so beautiful! I will record it and share it in the upcoming weeks.

If you don't know, the phrase means, Lord have mercy in Greek.

The ancient church used it as a quick prayer for help in all sorts of situations--and the prayer has a big role in Trunk of Scrolls: Paths of Faith and Fire (see link below).

Trunk of Scrolls News

On the Trunk of Scrolls blotter, Marcellus will be doing the homeschool conference rounds this spring! A beautiful, special homeschool edition hardcover will be available at four homeschool conferences. If you know anyone who is looking for an inspirational, ethics-driven, character-developing, adventure novel for their homeschool high schooler over the summer, the conference has amazing educational bundles. Available in paperback, hardcover, learning packets, audiobook.

CrossFall Theme Song Tournament

I got an awesome email from Tracey who listened to the songs then wrote to tell me: "They were so beautiful I wanted to hear them again."

That's my problem. I can't decide.

We're looking for a song that JulieAnn and Lizzy's mother, Lucy Bishop, could have sung to the kids around a hearthfire in the woods of their forest hideaway. I'm imagining she could have a ukulele or guitar, some flutes, some bean shakers.

Break the tie. Four contenders. One winner for Round One.

Click the image below to listen. Vote for at least 1 of the competitions. The words are the same, the tunes are different.

The song is about HOPE. So in the name of hope, let's hear a benediction:

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Rom 15:13

Speaking of songs. Trunk of Scrolls audiobook includes two unique songs sung by the narrator, who is also a professional musician. Please let me know if you are interested in the audiobook. At this point, it is only available direct from me and at the homeschool conventions.

I'll keep this short otherwise. Have a great week!

From the Desk of Darlene N. Böcek Faith-building Sci-fi Fantasy Stories Happy Easter Reader ! He is risen...indeed! Death Where is thy Sting? My hard-to-find novel, Tim Reynolds, Detective: The Death of Noah Black takes place in Portsmouth, Maine. The choice of location stems from a tragedy that happened there in 1798 that impacted my life permanently. It was the loss of parents Temperance and Seth Walker. I did a bunch of research when I first heard their story--and some day I have a mind to...
